With China’s Golden Week approaching, shipping companies opted for a “stop-shuttle port.” Reduced traffic affected container terminals in China, Europe and the United States, and Northern European subsidiaries and shipping operators were also impacted.
Effects of specific routes
2.1 Asian routes
SC has cancelled at least 16 flights from Asia to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
Maersk has cancelled routes AE55, AE15 and AE12 from Asia.
Daimler has suspended the new Turkey-Libya Express (TLX) route.

Current situation of the shipping market
Recently, shipping prices have dropped on several export routes, mainly due to excess supply and low demand. From 21 export routes, 15 routes have dropped in the past week.
This series of shutdowns on the eve of the Golden Week not only tested the stability of the global supply chain, but also reminded major and consumers that shipping market changes could bring more volatility to the economy as a whole.
